Preservation of the White Swiss Shepherd
WHY
The White Swiss Shepherd breed is facing a critical situation due to high inbreeding and a closed stud book, leading to a decline in genetic diversity. This lack of diversity increases the likelihood of genetic health issues and threatens the breed’s long-term survival. The NeverendingDog Project aims to address these issues and protect the future of the breed.
WHAT
An outcrossing program is being proposed to enhance the genetic diversity and overall quality of the WSS breed. The program involves mating WSS with other breeds, such as Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, and GSD, that share similar health issues and physical characteristics. After generation 4 backcrossing with purebred WSS will be done.

Change
The White Swiss Shepherd is a charming breed known for its friendly nature, athleticism, and versatility in dog sports and service roles.
However, the breed faces a critical situation requiring breeding adjustments to ensure its long-term health and well-being. The “Neverending Dog Program” aims to protect the future of a beloved breed.
This project will contribute to the longevity of the breed. More diversity, less inbreeding, that's the goal. From closed studbook to outcrossing with other (mix) breeds. This is the change we are going to make.
